Igelle 0.3.0
Igelle is a Linux-based operating system distribution that is designed to run on various different devices, including desktop/laptop computers, cellular phones, mobile internet devices and other small or large computers.
Igelle v0.3.0 marks the first publicly available release of the operating system; as the version number suggests, this is an early development release, and not suitable for general end-users yet. Similarly, this announcement marks the opening of the igelle.net website.
In this version, a prebuilt ISO installer is made available for x86 PCs. In addition, the source package is released, from which other experimental images could be built. The x86 installer produces a fully functioning Linux desktop, although with a number of usable features still unimplemented. The installer does come with full networking support and Firefox 3, and works wonderfully on, for example, the Asus EEE laptop as a replacement for the built-in software.
Some highlights of the software included:
- Linux 2.6.24.2
- Glibc 2.7
- Xorg 7.3
- Barpanel 0.2.0
- PCManFM 0.3.6.2
- Openbox 3.4.6.1
- Wicd 1.4.2
- Firefox 3 beta 5
